We all know that James Harden is well on his way out of the Philadelphia 76ers. In spite of a few hiccups, the former league MVP is clearly doing everything he can to facilitate his Philly exit.

Could Joel Embiid be the next superstar to want out of Philadelphia? The six-time All-Star recently removed any and all affiliations with the Sixers on his social media account thereby fueling rumors of a potential exit for the reigning NBA MVP.

Daryl Morey Willing to Trade Joel Embiid in Favor of Full Rebuild?

Sixers president for basketball operations Daryl Morey has played a key role in all this. In fact, it’s his unwillingness to budge on his asking price for Harden that is reportedly holding up a potential blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Could Morey now be looking to trade Joel Embiid as well? Vincent Goodwill of Yahoo Sports reports that the high-ranking Sixers executive could actually be open to this sensational concept:

“Morey is responsible for only the past few years, but in totality, many around the league believe Embiid will ask out sooner rather than later — and that a full rebuild is what Morey is covertly hoping for,” Goodwill wrote.

You have to note that Daryl Morey inherited this current situation with the Sixers, and while he might not be complaining about a Joel Embiid-led core, it’s also very much possible that the 50-year-old is open to the prospect of leading a full rebuild from scratch.

Knicks, Heat Reportedly Monitoring Joel Embiid Situation

In the event that the Sixers actually place Embiid on the trade block, you can be sure that more than a few teams out there will be doing everything they can for a shot at the guy who was deemed the best player in the NBA last season.

In fact, Goodwill reports that at least two teams are already watching Embiid’s current situation in Philadelphia:

“Everyone’s circling, waiting. The Knicks and Miami are keeping an eye on everything going on,” a league source told Yahoo Sports.

The New York Knicks and the Miami Heat may be the two teams that are doing some early due diligence, but you can expect at least half of the will NBA be interested if Embiid suddenly asks out of Philly.
