Milwaukee Brewers Sweep the Lowly Chicago White Sox

The Milwaukee Brewers finally did something they were supposed to do this weekend against a bad baseball club. They swept the Chicago White Sox (47-72) on the road, defeating them 7-3 on Sunday.

The Brewers have extended their lead in the National League Central to 3.5 games over the Chicago Cubs (61-57) and the Cincinnati Reds (62-58). Milwaukee is currently the third seed in the National League. The Milwaukee Brewers currently have a 65-54 record, and it appears as if they are playing better as of late. Milwaukee, in their last 10 games, has a 7-3 record, with a much-needed off day on Monday.

They will be traveling to the west coast for a three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers (71-46), with the series beginning on Tuesday night.

What was good for the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday was that some newcomers contributed. Mark Canha had a sacrifice fly in the second inning, and Carlos Santana also hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning.

Christian Yelich has been the Brewers’ most consistent player all season long for them. He also had a two-run single in the ninth inning. Milwaukee led by as much as 7-0 on Sunday. Yelich has played in 115 games this year for them. Overall, he has a .290 batting average with 16 home runs and 66 RBIs, along with 25 stolen bases. His on-base percentage is also .377.

Milwaukee Brewers About To Be Put to the Test

With the Chicago White Sox Series now put to bed, Milwaukee will be challenged on this road trip for the next six games. After the Los Angeles Dodgers series, they will also be on the road against the Texas Rangers (70-48), one of the best teams in the American League. Texas will be a tough test with a loaded lineup. A 3-3 record for the Milwaukee Brewers would be good here. Anything better than that would be great.
