**Job Description and Duties**


The CalSTRS Retirement Readiness Division is seeking a motivated individual to work as a Pension Program Manager II on the Quality Management, Program Development & Training (PQT) Team.


The Retirement Readiness (RR) Division is the principal area of the organization that develops, delivers, and coordinates educational services to CalSTRS members, employers, and staff. The goal of RR is to ensure that all members receive adequate, timely, and accurate information in order to make sound decisions regarding their CalSTRS benefits.


Under the general direction of the Pension Program Manager III (PPM III) the Pension Program Manager II (PPM II) provides direct supervision and guidance for the Pension Program Manager Is (PPM I) over RR Quality Management, Training Services, and Program Development.


The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:


+ Ability to travel overnight to various trainings and meetings.


+ Ability to anticipate and adapt to change and ensure staff are trained to meet changing business needs.


+ Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of staff and management.


+ Strong commitment to delivering quality service and providing options to customers with diplomacy.


+ Ability to consult, coach, and mentor peers and staff.


+ Demonstrate history of quality performance and leadership in a performance-driven organization.


+ Ability to offer coherent recommendations on the design and development of educational products and informational materials.


+ Ability to effectively represent division at speaking engagements and conferences.


Duties will be adjusted at the Staff Services Manager II level.


Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.


**Telework Information:** We offer a hybrid approach including in-office and remote work solutions with staff working on-site at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 2-3 days per week.

**Working Conditions**


All staff of CalSTRS are employees of the State of California and subject to California employment taxes and withholdings. Upon appointment, staff are required to provide a current California address to CalSTRS Human Resources to be used as a remote work location.


This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.

If appointed as a Pension Program Manager II, you must meet the minimum qualifications for both the Pension Program Manager II AND the Staff Services Manager II appropriate classification. **Background Investigation**


Prior to employment with CalSTRS, a background investigation (BI) will be conducted. The BI consists of a _Personal History Statement_ and fingerprinting through the Department of Justice. The BI will check criminal and civil records and, if applicable, verify education and check driving records.
