POSITION SUMMARY: Eagle Pointe Recreation Complex is seeking a Fitness Coordinator to serve as the manager to the Fitness, Child Watch and Aquatics departments. Eagle Pointe Recreation Complex offers a variety of amenities and programs to members and the public; including basketball, racquetball and tennis, strength and cardio-vascular area, personal training, group exercise and cycling studios, indoor heated lap pool, cryotherapy, adult and youth programs, court and pool parties, child watch and outdoor play area, wave pool, nature and jogging trails. As the Fitness Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the daily operation, programming and staffing of these areas. This includes ensuring facilities meet compliance guidelines, equipment maintenance is performed routinely, staffing levels are adequate, and public and member expectations are met. Supervision will be exercised to various levels of staff, including an Aquatics Specialist, Child Watch staff, Weight-Room staff, Seasonal Camp staff, and Contract Labor staff. The Fitness Coordinator will be expected to maintain a flexible schedule, indicative of seasonal programming (i.e. Wave Pool season, summer camps, spring break programs, etc.). *This position is classified as exempt, salaried. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages and supervises daily operations of Fitness, Child Watch and Aquatics departments to achieve goals within available resources; plans and organizes workloads and staff assignments; trains, motivates and evaluates assigned staff; reviews progress and directs changes as needed. Prepares work schedules and expedites workflow; Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances; performs or assists subordinates in performing duties; adjusts errors and complaints. Monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; oversees purchasing procedures; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time. Coordinates fitness and youth programs in conjunction with facility operations, other City departments, and outside organizations such as the school districts and community-based organizations. Reviews programming, implements changes, or create new programs to meet the needs of the community. Recruits, provides assignments, coordinates schedules and assists when necessary the independent contractors who provide fitness services. Scheduling wellness programs to include fitness orientation and instructing group fitness classes, as well as specialty programs such as workshops and lectures. Performs customer service duties including answering calls, answering member questions, being present throughout facility. Responds to and resolves customer complaints, questions, and suggestions related to the fitness, child watch and aquatics programs. Cognizant of community activities, trends, and expectations related to recreation facilities and programs. Develops and implements policies, procedures and standards for efficient and effective operation and maintenance of designated areas throughout facility. Assures compliance with established policies and procedures. Monitors facility maintenance status and practices. Reports repairs, deficiencies and areas of concern to Facility Maintenance Supervisor. Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned. Addresses inquiries and directs problem solving and resolution of member, resident and employee-related complaints. During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES : Exercises administrative direction to Aquatics Specialist, Child Watch staff, Weight-Room staff, Seasonal Camp staff, and Contract Labor staff. REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in recreation, kinesiology or related field and three (3) years of recreation programming experience which include some previous supervisory responsibilities – or- an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. First Aid and CPR/AED certification required. Must possess a valid Texas Driver License. Successful candidates must pass pre-employment drug screen, job related physical and background check. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Life Guarding Certificate, preferred. Life Guarding Certificate, preferred. Currently nationally recognized certification in both Personal Training and Group Exercise. Certifications accepted include ACE, ACSM, NASM, AFFAA, ISSA, NSCA, and Cooper's. Other certifications may be accepted. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity. Knowledge of federal, state and local laws, statutes, regulations, codes, and standards related to the area of responsibility. Knowledge of City policies and procedures. Ability to communicate and interact effectively with members of the public and co-workers. Skill in effective oral and written communication. Skill in the use of standard office equipment and software. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns. Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the general public, co-workers, elected and appointed officials and members of diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, regardless of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, marital status, political affiliation, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, or gender identity and expression. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Skill in monitoring/assessing the performance of self, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action. Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate programs. Ability to direct and organize program activities. Ability to establish goals and objectives. Ability to plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. Ability to train others.
