About the role

As our Chief Sonographer, you'll hold a pivotal role in spearheading the operational management of our Ultrasound department. Your leadership will be integral to ensuring quality service delivery, fostering professional development and driving innovative business strategies. From managing budgets to maintaining accreditation, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of diagnostic imaging.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with our Tutor Sonographer to train sonography students, contributing to the growth of the next generation of professionals.
  • Manage staffing levels to ensure safe and effective patient care within budget, maintaining optimal patient flow and exceptional service.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators, utilizing data-driven insights to continually enhance service quality.
  • Identify service gaps and create strategies to expand service delivery safely and efficiently, while remaining fiscally responsible.
  • Oversee the coordination of functions related to departmental accreditation, upholding the highest standards in ultrasound practice.
  • Ensure that ultrasound examinations adhere to contemporary practices and guidelines, maintaining the highest levels of precision and care.

Skills and experience

  • Hold current registration with ASAR and the ability to be fully credentialed to practice within Grampians Health.
  • Strong background in medical imaging/Ultrasound services, health management and illustrate a sound understanding of issues pertaining to healthcare.
  • Knowledge of PACS, RIS, DICOM, HL7 formats and relevant legislative requirements (as they relate to the distribution of medical images in a PACS environment).
