Job Overview: Ensure The Taos Way experience for guests by maintaining Basics to Excellence standards, Taos Ski Valley, Inc. Mission, Statement/Values; Standards and Expectations.Adhere to policies of Taos Ski Valley, Inc.The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for providing quality fitness programs designed to meet the needs of members, residents or guests. Looking for instructors capable of teaching multiple formats. Specific formats include: yoga, sculpt, and bootcamp.Ensure that a safe and healthy environment exists for exercising.Arrive to teach class 30 minutes in advance of the scheduled time to greet participants, answer questions and address concerns.Dress appropriately for teaching exercise classes: all black, professional, modestArrive well-prepared, music cued and routine thought outKnow the names of participants who attend your classesShare educational information with your class participantsTeach classes with energy and enthusiasmMotivate class participants to the best of your abilityNoting new participants and sharing basic exercise information with themKeep up-to-date on safety and fitness trendsReport any equipment/facility problems to the management teamBegin and end all classes on time.Ensure that class areas are clean and set according to procedures.Attend all scheduled meetingsAttend scheduled professional trainingsOther duties as assigned Essential Job Responsibilities: Adheres to policies of the facility, The Blake and Taos Ski Valley, Inc.Reports any incident or accident to the Facility Manager.Submits all paperwork and financial reporting, when applicable, in accordance with Taos Ski Valley, Inc. policy.Develops and maintains accurate department maintenance procedures and checklist Qualifications: Must be certified through ACE, ACSM, or other approved nationally accredited organizationPreferred to have educational background in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Health Education or related fieldValid CPR CertificationValid Standard First Aid CertificationMust have excellent written and oral communication skills to work positively with different populations, in groups and individuallyMust be well-organized and prepared to teach classesMust be in excellent physical condition to teach group exerciseMust be able to think independently and develop routines for teaching specific exercise classesMust be able to keep confidences and practice discernmentNormal work hours: varied to include nights, weekends, and holidays Work Environment: Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Physical Demands Of Position: Ability to lift 25 lbsAbility to stand for long periods of timeAwareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injuryThis position required the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, walk, and talk Background Check Positions dealing with children, of safety sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check.
