ABOUT US /

The Front Climbing Club was Utah's first indoor rock climbing gym, and one of the first in the nation. From its humble beginnings as The Body Shop back in the 80's to three best-in-class facilities today, The Front has never lost its soul or connection to its roots.

The Front is led by three core values, which are outlined below. These values drive our day-to-day decisions as well as the future vision for our company. We expect every member of our team to embrace these values and believe they should align with your personal values to do so.

We do not offer easy jobs. We simply cannot slow down enough to kick back and relax while we are at work, but we highly encourage you to shut off your devices and email and disappear into the mountains on your own time.

Our culture is built on this level of work ethic, as well as integrity, community (we do not use that word lightly), and unity.

All that said, we also know how to have a good time.

Primary and Essential Functions

  • Prepare an effective and unique 50-minute workout that includes a warm up and brief cool down. Workout should be suitable for all fitness levels and must be prepared with adaptations when needed;
  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before class to turn on lights, set up equipment and turn on music;
  • Greet participants as they arrive with friendliness and enthusiasm. Learn names when possible;
  • Ask class if anyone has any injuries or limitations that you should know about, and keep these in mind as you instruct your class. You may need to make modifications;
  • Lead workout with energy. Your class may rely on you for their motivation, turn the energy up!
  • Is aware of music volume and content. It is hard to hear the instructor if the music is too loud, but it is a total buzz kill if the music is too quiet. Also, we don't like extreme explicit language. Choose your music wisely;
  • Make corrections to participant form when needed;
  • End class ON TIME. Knows how long class is supposed to be and ends on the minute;
  • Teach class how to wipe down and put their equipment away;
  • Thank your class for coming, grab the broom and dry mop. Makes sure equipment looks nice and organized;
  • Take care of the equipment like you own it, and notify the Front Desk Managers if equipment breaks or needs to be replaced;
  • Turns off lights if there is not another class right after yours. Leaves the doors open to vent;
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Group fitness certification or CPT
  • Physical fitness is required in order to participate in classes and show participants proper exercise techniques;
  • Communication skills in order to explain difference exercise and speak in a positive, motivating way;
  • Extremely dependable - rarely requires that your class be subbed, and NEVER ask for a sub within 24 hours of your class time unless it is a dire emergency;
  • High energy and enthusiastic;
  • Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles;
  • Knowledge of group fitness teaching strategies and the incorporation of music, tempo, cueing technique, and rhythm;
