Donovan Mitchell carried the Cavs on his back tonight, scoring 30 points and making several key free throws hitting 12 out of 13 for the game.

Donovan Mitchell, the standout All-Star, showcased his prowess by tallying 30 points, which included sinking a crucial free throw with just 44 seconds remaining, propelling the Cleveland Cavaliers to a remarkable comeback victory over the Chicago Bulls, with a final score of 108-105 on Wednesday night.

In a tense finale, Coby White had an opportunity to force overtime in the dying seconds, but his 3-point attempt from the top of the key rattled out. Mitchell’s pivotal free throw not only gave the Cavaliers a narrow 104-103 Lead but his two additional makes with just 4.7 seconds left further cemented their victory at 108-105.

Contributing to Cleveland’s success, Isaac Okoro delivered 16 points, while Jarrett Allen secured a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The Cavaliers have been on a tear lately, winning 18 of their last 20 games and boasting the NBA’s best record at 23-5 since December 16. Their outstanding performance places them securely in second place in the Eastern Conference standings.

On the Bulls’ side, Coby White led the charge with 32 points, 23 of which came in the second half, while DeMar DeRozan contributed 24 points and Andre Drummond added 10 points along with an impressive 15 rebounds. Despite their efforts, the Bulls concluded their four-game trip with a 2-2 record, just before the NBA All-Star break.

The thrilling matchup saw all seven lead changes and nine ties unfold in the final 10 minutes and 40 seconds of the game, starting with Cleveland taking the lead at 79-78 courtesy of a pivotal 3-pointer by Georges Niang. The Cavaliers’ dominance at home continued, with a stellar 10-1 record since the beginning of January.

Chicago started strong, grabbing an early eight-point lead and extending it to 46-29 in the second quarter, led by DeRozan’s 11 points. However, Cleveland clawed their way back, narrowing the gap to 49-43 by halftime, fueled by Mitchell’s nine points and five assists.

The third quarter remained tightly contested, with White notching 10 points and Drummond securing nine rebounds, allowing the Bulls to maintain a slim 76-71 lead. Despite several close calls, the Cavaliers managed to stay within striking distance.

Notably, Bulls forward Patrick Williams sat out for the ninth consecutive game due to left midfoot bone soreness, although Coach Billy Donovan expressed optimism about his potential return before the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Cavaliers forwards Sam Merrill and Dean Wade were sidelined due to illness, although Darius Garland, despite not feeling well, was able to take the court.
