Aliyah Boston Named WNBA Rookie Of The Year

   Aliyah Boston is your 2023 Wnba Rookie of the Year. The 6’5” centre started every game for the Indiana Fever this year, posting a 14.5pts/8.4reb/2.2ast/1.3stl/1.3blk stat line in her rookie campaign.

   As a result, Boston earned all 60 first place votes, becoming only the 5th player in league history to earn unanimous ROTY honours. The former Gamecocks standout joins A’ja Wilson, Elena Delle Donne, Tina Charles, and Candace Parker in the illustrious club.

   The 21 year old led the league with a 57.8% field goal percentage, becoming the first rookie to lead the league in that statistic in WNBA history. She was also named a starter in the 2023 WNBA All-Star game, becoming only the 6th rookie and first since 2014 to do so.

   For her efforts, Boston was named to the 2023 WNBA All-Rookie team alongside Jordan Horston, Dorka Juhasz, Li Meng, and Diamond Miller.

   Boston, selected 1st overall in this year’s WNBA entry draft, helped the Fever to a 13-27 record this season. While the win total marks just the 2nd time over the last 7 campaigns that Indiana has hit double digits in the win column, the club will nevertheless be a lottery team once again this year, and will be hoping to add another cornerstone piece in a stacked draft class.

   The 2024 group could feature stars in the making such as Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese, Aaliyah Edwards, Cameron Brink, Paige Bueckers, and Hailey van Lith.
