Murillo will make a name for himself at Nottingham Forest, after the new signing from Corinthians was the star man for the visitors during stalemate against Crystal Palace

It is easy to slip under the radar as a new Nottingham Forest addition when over 40 players have joined in the last two seasons.

And when they misspelt Murillo’s name on his shirt for his debut against Brentford last week jokes wrote themselves about Forest not knowing who they have brought.

The Brazilian defender, 21, was a little-known capture from Corinthians when he joined for £12.5m during Forest’s late summer window flurry. But very quickly he has shown potential to be one of their standout signings.

Murillo is not the tallest centre-back at 6ft though also not hard to miss with his broad shoulders giving him an imposing frame.

Instead it is his range of qualities and how Premier League-ready he has looked that has caught some at Forest by surprise.

Steve Cooper was impressed, and hopes Murillo will improve with an individual programme

He made just 13 Corinthians appearances and has never represented Brazil at youth level so few expected performances as promising as the ones so far.

His pinpoint passing and a solo run that some of his most gifted countrymen would have been proud of were among his highlights in the stalemate with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Impressed Forest boss Steve Cooper said: ‘The secret at times to young players when they break through is not to get too high and not to get too low. We have a big emphasis on individual programmes and Murillo will hopefully get the best of that from us.’
