Napoli have drawn up a three-man shortlist to replace Victor Osimhen in 2024, according to Calciomercato.

Osimhen’s contract expires in 2025 and he is expected to leave at the end of the current season for a club record fee.

Calciomercato reports that Napoli have three main strikers in mind to succeed Osimhen.

The first is Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus. The Brazilian only arrived at the Emirates last year and has been important in making the Gunners a title challenger.

However, in addition to a poor injury record, Jesus is still not considered clinical and prolific enough and he could be moved on next year, also.

Napoli are fans of Jesus, and the same goes for Lille striker Jonathan David. The Canadian has long been a target for Europe’s bigger clubs and it is expected that 2024 will be the year he finally gets his big move. Milan are also interested in David, as are a number of Premier League teams.

The final main option to replace Osimhen is Alvaro Morata. The Spaniard will turn 31 by the end of the year and represents an experienced alternative to Jesus and David. However, he knows the league well after two spells at Juventus.

Osimhen expected to leave Napoli in 2024

As for Osimhen, he is currently in a delicate situation at the club after the recent TikTok scandal.

Osimhen was infuriated and deleted all his Napoli photos from social media after the club’s official TikTok account mocked his penalty miss against Bologna.

His contract renewal talks have also made little headway in recent weeks.

Napoli President Aurelio Di Laurentiis is expected to ask for a fee in the region of €100-150m next summer to sell Osimhen. Chelsea and PSG are among the clubs interested in Osimhen.
