Manchester United ‘join Arsenal and Liverpool in the race for RB Salzburg playmaker Oscar Gloukh’ – with ‘scouts having watched teen’ during Israel’s Euro 2024 qualifiers earlier this month

  • The 19-year-old moved to the Austrian club in January 2023 for £6million
  • Gloukh was previously courted by Barcelona, Ajax, and Borussia Dortmund

Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool are all thought to be vying for the signature of Red Bull Salzburg’s Oscar Gloukh, according to reports.

The 19-year-old joined the Austrian side just six months ago during the January transfer window, but has already caught the eye of a legion of top-flight rivals.

An attacking midfielder, Gloukh got his start at Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he rose through the ranks of the Israeli side’s academy.

Eventually selling for £6million to Salzburg, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, and Ajax previously looked into bringing in the teenager, but as Gloukh explained at the time, the deal from the Camp Nou came a hair too late.

‘I was very excited that (Barcelona) wanted me, but they were late for the bidding and came back when we had already closed the Salzburg deal,’ Gloukh said. ‘In the end, I think we made the right decision to go to Salzburg and not to Barcelona. It makes more sense for my development as a player.’

But as per the Sun, the player could be preparing to move on yet again, after the Premier League rivals sent scouts to watch Gloukh on international duty.

The midfielder received the call-up for Israel’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Romania, and rose to the occasion scoring the equaliser in the 53rd minute of the 1-1 draw.

Previously, the player shone at this summer’s Under-21 European Championships, where he reached the semi-finals with his side and was named Player of the Match during the team’s group stage win against Czechia.

Gloukh scored the equaliser against Romania to boost Israel’s qualifying hopes for Euro 2024

Gloukh has made eight appearances for Salzburg this season, scoring once and registering a further three assists.

Man United may find themselves especially motivated to lure the teenager north during the next transfer window, should they continue to struggle for goals.

Erik ten Hag’s side have been unable to get their 2023/24 season firing, notching up two back-to-back 3-1 defeats against Arsenal and Brighton.

A limp defeat to the Seagulls at home on Saturday afternoon marked the end of 31-match unbeaten streak at Old Trafford, and is sure to have given Ten Hag food for thought ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
