Manchester United have not included Mason Greenwood in their provisional squad numbers list ahead of the new season.

The striker has been suspended by United since January 2022 and has not played in over 18 months.

United are expected to make a decision over his future in the coming days before the Premier League season gets underway. Greenwood was recently spotted training in a park.

His contract could be terminated, he could be sold, loaned out or he could be reintegrated into the first team again.

The striker has not trained with his United teammates since January last year having been suspended after being arrested for attempted rape and assault. The charges were dropped in February this year.

Man United have released Provisional Squad Numbers for the upcoming campaign – with most notable absentees being Greenwood as well as new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund made the move to Old Trafford for £72million from Atalanta last week, but is not yet match fit.

The Denmark international has not been given a squad number as of yet since arriving.

Man United have confirmed the numbers may change by the time the transfer window closes on September 1.

“New signing Rasmus Hojlund has not yet been given a number as he works to reach match fitness following his arrival from Atalanta. The centre-forward’s number will be confirmed in due course,” a statement from United read.

“Others will start the season in their existing numbers, but with the possibility of change after the transfer window closes when it will be clear which other numbers in the squad are vacant.

“Fans are urged to consider this risk when buying numbered replica jerseys in the next few weeks. Most numbers will remain unchanged from the list submitted to the Premier League on Thursday.”
