Cristiano Ronaldo and other soccer stars in Saudi Arabia set to be shown on FOX Sports after network ‘secures US rights to show Saudi Pro League’

FOX Sports have reportedly acquired the rights to show the Saudi Pro League in the United States.

The Saudi season kicks off on Friday, August 11, after an incredible summer which has seen some of world soccer’s biggest names head to the Middle East.

Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, Sadio Mane and Jordan Henderson are among the big-name players to leave Europe and join Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia.

According to World Soccer Talk, Fox Sports have secured the rights to show the 18-team league.

It comes after the Kingdom struck deals with other major broadcasters ahead of the new season.

As revealed by Mail Sport, DAZN secured exclusive live rights to show Saudi Pro League matches in the UK, while Canal + will broadcast the action in France and Africa.

Mail Sport has learned that three matches each week, including every one involving Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, will be available to watch live via DAZN, starting with Friday’s match between Al-Ahli Saudi and Al-Hazm.

Steven Gerrard’s first game as manager of Al-Ettifaq against Ronaldo’s Al Nassr is the highlight of the first round of fixtures next Monday.

It is a clash which illustrates the growing interest in what has been the most talked about league in the world this summer.

Saudi Pro League clubs have emerged as a genuine threat to top European sides in the transfer market by spending over £350million on new players, including Henderson, Firmino, Benzema and Ruben Neves.

In the UK, Sky Sports picked up the digital rights to broadcast Saudi Pro League games halfway through last season after Ronaldo signed for Al Nassr.

But the DAZN deal is the first to commit to broadcasting the league for a whole season.
