Leeds United CONFIRM the appointment of Daniel Farke as new their head coach as former Norwich boss signs a four-year deal at Elland Road

Daniel Farke has been confirmed as the new Leeds United manager on a four-year deal.

Mail Sport revealed last week that the German had agreed terms to take charge of the Whites.

And Farke arrived at Elland Road on Tuesday to finalise his contract and will now take charge of his first day of pre-season training on Wednesday.

The 46-year-old will be joined at Leeds by coaches Eddie Riemer, Christopher John and Chris Domogalla, who all worked with him during his time at Norwich.

‘I’d like to thank everyone for the really warm welcome, I’m really grateful at this moment, to work for this amazing club,’ said Farke.

‘I feel humble at this time, I know the responsibility to fulfil all the expectations and I want to repay the trust shown.

‘The most important thing is to create a togetherness and unity within this club again and from today onwards, I will work on it with my staff and players, and I trust our supporters will be there when we need them. I can’t wait for the first game of the season.’

Farke’s first Championship match in charge will be against Cardiff City at Elland Road on August 6.

Leeds vice-chairman Paraag Marathe said: ‘After a thorough recruitment process, we are excited to confirm Daniel’s appointment as our first-team manager.

‘His record in the Championship is clear, and I am impressed by his leadership and plan to guide us back to the Premier League.

He will get to work this week as Leeds begin their pre-season preparations

‘We welcome Daniel and his staff to the club and look forward to a strong season.’

Farke was first sounded out by Leeds at the start of last month, soon after he was sacked by German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach.

He twice led Norwich to Premier League promotion as Championship winners, in 2019 and 2021, and impressed the Whites hierarchy in early conversations.

Farke then emerged as Leeds’ No1 choice last week after he was formally interviewed, along with other shortlisted candidates, Patrick Vieira and Scott Parker.

The Whites had been without a boss since Sam Allardyce left at the end of the season after he failed in his four-game mission to keep the club in the Premier League.

Leeds had been waiting for the EFL to approve their takeover by 49ers Enterprises before announcing who would be managing them in the Championship.

The club are still hopeful that the American group’s buy-out of Italian Andrea Radrizzani will be given the green light in the coming days.

However, with pre-season training getting underway this week, Leeds wanted to have their new boss installed.
