Juventus ‘are willing to sell Paul Pogba after last season’s injury hell – but he wants to STAY’

Juventus ‘are willing to sell Paul Pogba if a suitable offer comes in after injury hell restricted him to just 172 MINUTES of football last season – but he wants to STAY’

  • Juventus are open to getting rid of Paul Pogba, 30, according to reports in Italy
  • The French midfielder had a nightmare season last year disrupted by injuries
  • Juve are believed to be eyeing up Chelsea’s Cesare Casadei as a replacement

Juventus are open to getting rid of Paul Pogba this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The central midfielder rejoined the Italian giants on a free transfer in July 2022 after his contract at Manchester United expired.

But he endured a nightmare injury-ravaged season in Turin, only making 10 appearances in all competitions, totalling 172 minutes – fewer than two full matches.

Shortly after joining he picked up a knee injury keeping him out for two months, was being dropped in March for disciplinary reasons, before making his first start in May – but was subbed off after 23 minutes following a thigh injury which ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

And according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, the Old Lady would be willing to cut their losses and sell Pogba, their highest earner, if they receive a suitable offer.

Manager Max Allegri is believed to be looking at Sergej Milinkovic-Savic as his replacement

However, it is understood the World Cup winner wants to stay and fight for his place.

Manager Massimiliano Allegri is keen to wait and assess his condition when players return for pre-season training.

Pogba, for his part, has returned early from his holiday and is carrying out physical preparation in Miami.

He plans to join up with the club’s coaching team at Continassa training ground on July 2, eight days before the squad officially returns from their summer break.

Juve are reportedly eyeing up two midfielders in Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei as potential replacements from the Frenchman.

It is also claimed Allegri would sanction the departures of other central midfielders including Denis Zakaria and Arthur Melo, who ended last season on loan at Chelsea and Liverpool respectively.

Tuttosport claim Allegri and Co are willing to offer Serb Milinkovic-Savic a four- or five-year deal to persaude him to join.

Blues youngster Casadei, 20, who has starred for Italy’s age-grade sides, would represent a cheaper alternative.
