Harry Kane is open to joining Bayern Munich this summer after the German club launched a shock bid to sign the Tottenham striker.

The Bundesliga side, managed by former Chelsea Boss Thomas Tuchel, are confident that the England captain would accept a move to Bavaria this summer.

Tottenham are adamant Kane is not for sale and would reject all offers for their talisman.

Munich have approached Tottenham over a £60million proposal, which falls way below the Premier League club’s £100million valuation.

It now remains to be seen whether Munich return with an improved offer to further test Spurs’ resolve to keep Kane at the club for Ange Postecoglou’s first season in charge.

It has been a widely held view that Kane prefers to stay in England if he is move this summer as he looks to chase down Alan Shearer’s Premier League goalscoring record.

However, Kane’s only realistic English suitor – Manchester United – are looking at alternatives amid concerns over his price and the prospect of negotiating with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

But sources in Germany have told Mail Sport that Kane – who remains without a single major honour – would give consideration to a move to the Allianz Arena, where the striker knows he would virtually guaranteed of challenging for trophies.

Indeed, Bayern would unlikely have put Kane at the top of their summer recruitment plans without some form of encouragement that he would join them.

Kane has just 12 months on his current deal but has provided no indication that he would be open to signing an extension, leaving Spurs facing the prospect of losing the striker for nothing next year.

There is a feeling that Kane would be able to one day return to England if he moves abroad

Doing so would keep his dreams of surpassing Alan Shearer (pictured) as the Premier League’s all-time leading scorer alive

There is also a feeling that should he move abroad, that Kane can one day return to the Premier League to break Shearer’s record of 260 goals. Kane has scored 216.

Kane is 29, and there is a belief he can play on until at least his late 30s. The striker is over the injury problems that hindered part of his career and his professionalism off the pitch has raised expectation that he could play for another decade.

Sweden legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired earlier this summer at the age of 41, a point that has not gone unnoticed.
