Arsenal: Fans vent trophy frustrations after Stan Kroenke’s Denver Nuggets win NBA title

‘Give us that same energy!’: Frustrated Arsenal fans vent after Denver Nuggets help owner Stan Kroenke win a FOURTH trophy in 18 months… as some claim a Premier League title is ‘written in the stars’ for next season

  • Arsenal fans could not hide their frustration after Denver Nuggets won NBA title
  • Club chief Stan Kroenke owns Nuggets and has won four trophies in 18 months
  • Supporters urged him to focus on Arsenal as some predicted a title win in 2024

Arsenal fans were left scratching their heads after watching owner Stan Kroenke lift his fourth trophy in 18 months following the Denver Nuggets‘ NBA title triumph – as some urged him to ‘give the same energy’ to the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side look destined to lift a first Premier League title since 2004 last season as they battled Manchester City all the way – before their rivals proved too strong and ended up running away with the crown.

The Gunners were impressive and secured a return to the Champions League for the first time since 2017 as Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli all shone, but fans are craving more silverware to show for their tidy performances.

Some could not help but feel left out after seeing the club’s owner enjoy more success with his American franchises – after the Nuggets sealed the NBA title to add to his collection of silverware.

Nikola Jovic and Co made history by winning their first championship after beating Miami 94-89 this week and Kroenke was front and centre of their celebrations – with the pictures going viral among Arsenal fans on social media.

The Gunners looked nailed on to win the Premier League last season before coming up short in their battle with Man City

Some questioned why Arsenal could not harness the same winning mentality of Kroenke’s other sides. A trophy-laden period saw his Los Angeles Rams side win the Super Bowl, Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup championships and Colorado Mammoth won the National Lacross League in the last year and a half.

One fan voiced his frustration on social media, writing: ‘All of Kroenke’s teams winning trophies except us ffs.’

A furious reaction saw a fan urging Kroenke to now put all his focus on replicating the same success at the Emirates next season.

‘Stan and Josh Kroenke! You see the energy you put into your other franchises? This upcoming season it’s time to put that same energy into Arsenal please!!! Give Arteta what he needs.’

Another supporter posted a meme from the hit HBO series Succession with the caption: ‘Stan Kroenke look at Arsenal Football Club’ that shows the titular character Logan Roy saying, ‘I love you, but you are not serious people.’

One listed Kroenke’s achievements and asking, ‘Arsenal next?’ before including a hilarious meme that read: ‘Jesus, I see what you’ve done for other people and I want that for me.’

Arsenal fans pleaded with Kroenke to put all his focus into winning silverware with the club

Elsewhere among the Gunners faithful, there was excitement drumming up for next season, with some optimistic that the Nuggets’ triumph – and Kroenke’s general success levels – meant glory was coming for Arsenal.

‘Another Kroenke team wins the Championship. Arsenal is up next,’ one said.

One added: ‘Kroenkes are on a roll. Something in the stars for the 2023-24 season,’ as they included a picture of an Arsenal badge.

‘Someone tell Stan Kroenke to get his chequebook out for Arsenal this summer,’ read a supporter’s tweet. ‘Now that the Nuggets clinched that chip, he can focus on us.’

Kroenke has endured a fracturous relationship with Arsenal fans since he took over in 2011

Furious supporters demanded that the American sold the club after signing Arsenal up to the European Super League

Kroenke has endured a tense relationship with Arsenal fans since he took over the club as a majority shareholder in 2011.

Gunners fans have been frustrated with the American over his lack of investment in the team before lashing out at his decision to involve Arsenal in the failed European Super League.

That debacle saw hordes of fans gather outside the Emirates Stadium urging the billionaire to leave that club – though opinion on him has improved after spending more than £160m on transfers last season and helping the team compete for the title.

This summer, Arsenal are looking to go further in their bid to finally win the Premier League title with the Gunners seen as the favourite to land £90m-rated West Ham captain Declan Rice.

The club have also been linked with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
