Manchester United is reportedly gearing up for new discussions regarding South Korean defender, Kim Min-jae. The aim? To outmanoeuvre Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in securing the player’s signature.
According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, United is set to hold fresh rounds of talks over the Napoli defender, who is also on the radar of Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur. Galetti revealed that United plans to trigger the €60 million (£52 million) release clause for the international central defender in July.

Galetti stated, “There is a new round of meetings scheduled already in the coming days in which Manchester United will try and finalise and reach a full agreement on personal terms.” He further added that in early July, United plans to pay Napoli the release clause of €60m, valid for 15 days, to bring in the Korean player.
The question now is, what should Liverpool do about Kim Min-jae and Manchester United? If Liverpool is truly determined to sign Kim Min-jae in the summer transfer window, they should, like Manchester United, trigger the release clause in the Napoli defender’s contract.
If United does the same, then it will be up to the defender to choose between the Red Devils and the Merseyside club. Liverpool, a global brand just like United, should be confident of convincing Kim to move to Anfield instead of Old Trafford.
Despite Liverpool not playing in the UEFA Champions League next season, Jurgen Klopp’s side can still attract top players. Kim, who won Serie A with Napoli this past season, would still find a transfer to Liverpool a step-up.
