Black Sherif Deserves Album Of The Year – Wode Maya – The 24th edition of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards VGMA 2023 has come to an end on the 6th of May 2023 night with Black Sherif grabbing the ultimate and prestigious Artist Of The Year award in a very competitive nomination with big horns such as Piesie Esther, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and others.
Black Sherif did not only win the Artist of The Year but also HipHop/Hiplife Song of the Year with Kwaku The Traveller and Best Video of the Year with Konongo Zongo but netizens sees an unfair play in the awards and poured their disappointment on the streets of social media.
Vloggers Kwadwo Sheldon and Wode Maya are those leading the Twitter demonstration against what they described as an unfair show of appreciating Black Sherif’s work.
According to these two vloggers, Black Sherif Deserves Album Of The Year as well. And it doesn’t make awarding him with the Artist of The Year while denying him the Album of The Year award as the Album in question “The Villain I Never Was” is the catapult of Black Sherif’s career.
But how is an Album/EP of The Year determined? Well, according to the board of VGMA Academy and Board, an Album/EP of The Year must be the most outstanding compilation [ either by the number of hit songs and or the quality of production] that was released during the year under review. It must have generated excitement during the year.
While VGMA Board and Academy think Black Sherif’s ‘The Villain I Never Was’ doesn’t meet the criteria, vlogger Kwadwo Sheldon and Wode Maya think he does and must have won it. Below is how they vert their concerns.

Nevertheless, it was a sweet and tense night, especially between the highly tipped artist who many expected to win the Artists of The Year at the 24th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Award.
