IHG has today launched its 2X Unlimited promotion for stays January 1 – 31, 2024, which we already wrote about two weeks ago (read more here).
IHG One Rewards members earn double points for all stays consumed in January, and members in the US earn an extra 2,000 points if they stay at a minimum of two brands during the promotional period.

Note that the double points offer is valid for members worldwide, while the 2,000 extra bonus is only for members with an account address in the US.
Only the base points, not the possible elite bonus points, are doubled during the 2X Unlimited promotion.
Conclusion
This is a pretty decent offer, and I like how it rewards those who stay at more expensive IHG properties, as all the base points are double.

To participate in the “2X Unlimited” Promotion (the “Promotion”), an individual must have an active, valid IHG One Rewards member account and must register for the Promotion. Members can pre-register for this Promotion starting December 20, 2023 through December 31, 2023 (the “Pre-Registration Period”). Members will be able to stay and earn IHG One Rewards bonus points under this Promotion beginning January 1, 2024 and ending on January 31, 2024 (the “Promotion Period”). Members who did not register during the Pre-Registration Period may register for the Promotion during the Promotion Period. A member can only register once. By registering for the Promotion, a member is accepting these Terms & Conditions.
*IHG One Rewards members in the United States who registered for the current IHG One Rewards “2X Unlimited” promotion have been automatically registered for this additional promotional offer (the “2K Brand Offer”). Under this Offer, an additional 2,000 IHG One Rewards bonus points will be awarded to members who stay at 2 or more IHG brands during the promotion period.
After registering for the Promotion, a member can earn 2X points on qualifying room nights during the Promotion Period. To be a qualifying room night under the Promotion, the room night must fall within the Promotion Period and must be part of a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay. As stated, the “Promotion Period” is from January 1, 2024 through January 31, 2024. Room nights outside of the Promotion Period are not included, and room nights that are part of a stay that was completed prior to registration for the Promotion also are not included. For purposes of this Promotion, a “Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay” is defined as a minimum one (1) night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with total spend exceeding US $30 (or local currency equivalent) for each night. Stays booked using Rewards Nights or Points & Cash are not Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stays for purposes of this Promotion. Bookings made through on-line travel agencies or other reservation sites such as booking.com or expedia.com also do not qualify under this Promotion. If more than one member who registered for the Promotion checks into the same room, only one member is eligible to earn points under the Promotion for those nights that qualify. If a member books more than one room on the same night, the member will receive credit towards this Promotion for only one of the rooms that also meets the requirements of a qualifying room night under the Promotion. The time needed for awarding points can vary with each promotion, so please allow up to 6 weeks for any earned bonus points to be posted to the recipient’s account.
For the 2X Unlimited Promotion, earning “2X” or “2X points” on stays through January 31, 2024 means the total number of regular “base points” and promotional “bonus points” combined will equal two (2) times the base points the member would normally receive just for being an IHG One Rewards member. For example, under the 2X Unlimited Promotion, for a one-night Qualifying Stay with a room rate of $100.00 at an IHG hotel with a 10 points per USD earn rate for base points, the member would earn 1,000 base points (10 points x $100 = 1,000 points) and an additional 1,000 promotional bonus points, for a total of 2,000 points. The promotional bonus points under this Promotion are calculated based solely on the base points the member is eligible to earn for a Qualifying Stay just for being an IHG One Rewards member, and any Elite status bonus points or any other bonus or promotional points the member may be eligible to receive for the same stay are not included. The additional 2,000 bonus points earned under the “2K Brand Offer” will be deposited after a member stays at 2 or more brands. The stays must be at different IHG brands in order to count towards the “2K Brand Offer” and can only be won once during the promotional period for a total of 2,000 points.
A member’s participation in the IHG One Rewards program and this Promotion is subject to the standard IHG One Rewards Membership Terms and Conditions, which can be obtained here or by visiting ihgonerewards.com. How many points can I expect when participating in the 2X Unlimited promotion?

How will the Points be awarded for the 2X Unlimited promotion for Elite status members?
Promotional bonus points under the 2X Unlimited promotion will be awarded based on the number of base points the member is eligible to receive for each qualifying night under the Promotion as described in the preceding FAQ, whether the member is an Elite status member or not.
For Elite members, the Elite bonus is determined separately using only the base points earned on the stay and does not include any promotional bonus points from the 2X Unlimited promotion.
Example – A Diamond Elite member completes their first Qualifying Stay at a participating IHG® Hotels & Resorts property with a 10 points per USD earn rate for base points. The stay is two qualifying nights long and the member spends $100 on each night. The Diamond Elite member will earn a total of 6,000 IHG One Rewards points with this promotion, as outlined below:
2X the points for the qualifying nights under the promotion results in a total of 4,000 points: The base points earned (i.e., the points the member receives for their stay just for being an IHG One Rewards member) at 10 points per USD X $100 X 2 nights = 2,000 Base Points + an additional 2,000 Promotional Bonus Points earned by the member for the 2X Unlimited promotion, for a total of 4,000 points.
Then for also being a Diamond Elite Member, the member would earn, separately, their 100% Elite bonus on the 2,000 Base Points earned = 2,000 Elite Bonus Points.
The combined total of the above is: 4,000 points (2,000 base points + 2,000 promotional bonus points) + 2,000 Elite bonus points = 6,000 total points.
What is a Promotion Eligible Qualifying Stay for purposes of this Promotion?
