Expert Predicts $1 Billion Market for AI Girlfriends as Men Spent $10K a Month on Fake Relationships

Observing the concerning condition of men ensnared by AI girlfriends, a Miami tech executive viewed profit potential rather than warning signs.

In a post of X-formerly-Twitter, ex-WeWork executive Greg Isenberg shared that upon encountering a young individual who reportedly invests $10,000 monthly on “AI girlfriends” – chatbots simulating relationships – he recognized the impending potential for someone to seize upon that market similar to Match Group’s dominance in dating apps.

“I initially thought he was joking,” Isenberg expressed. “However, he’s a 24-year-old single man who genuinely enjoys it.”

As of now, Match Group, the parent company of Tinder, Hinge, Match.com, OKCupid, Plenty of Fish, and numerous other platforms, boasts a market capitalization exceeding $9 billion. As highlighted by the current CEO of the startup holding company Late Checkout, it’s inevitable that someone will develop the AI counterpart and potentially generate billions in revenue.

In the conversation, Isenberg admitted to being “speechless” as the young man elaborated on his reasoning. He described his capability to “interact” with his AI companions akin to how individuals engage with video games, mentioning sending them voice messages and tailoring their preferences as factors contributing to his significant expenditure on these services.

The individual, whose name remains undisclosed, informed the tech enthusiast that he is especially fond of Candy.ai and Cupid.ai, both of which facilitate NSFW conversations prohibited on other applications.

“It’s sort of like dating apps,” the AI girlfriend enthusiast explained to Isenberg. “You’re not just on one.”

Hand It to Him

Responses were diverse.

“The era of the girlfriend Singularity has arrived,” commented the disgraced “Dilbert” cartoonist. “Human women had their time.”

“This will become commonplace among people you know soon,” another individual posted, “even if they don’t acknowledge it.”

Certainly, although there has been considerable, um, curiosity regarding the lives of individuals who favor AI companionship over traditional relationships, less attention has been given to the potential financial opportunities for early investors in this emerging field. Meanwhile, it continues to exacerbate the lack of real-life connection and interaction that many people yearn for.

As Isenberg expressed in his post, “things are on the brink of getting rather strange” — a statement that may be an understatement in itself.
