Elon Musk Says First Neuralink Patient Can Control a Computer Mouse Through Thinking

Elon Musk, the founder of Neuralink, mentioned that a person with their brain technology implanted can control a computer mouse simply by thinking.

Musk shared in a conversation on social media that the patient appears to have fully recovered without any negative effects that they know of and is capable of moving the mouse around the screen using only their thoughts.

Neuralink’s Journey to Help People Control Devices

Neuralink is a startup owned by a billionaire. They claim to have created a brain implant to help people use their brain signals to control outside devices. The company wants to help people regain abilities like vision, movement, and speaking.

In January, Neuralink put its device inside a person’s brain for the first time. They use a robot to do this accurately. Elon Musk, who is the CEO of Tesla and also involved with Neuralink, mentioned that the goal is to make the patient able to control things by thinking, like moving a computer mouse and dragging boxes on a screen.

Neuralink started finding people to take part in its first trial with humans in the fall. They got approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in May, which they talked about in a blog post.

This trial with people is just one step for Neuralink to make its product available for everyone. Companies that make medical devices have to gather a lot of information about safety and test their products a lot before they can get final approval from the FDA.

Conclusion

Elon Musk talked about Neuralink’s big achievement: controlling a computer mouse just by thinking. The patient got better without any known problems. Neuralink wants to help people by making brain implants that restore abilities like seeing and moving. They’re on the way to making this available for everyone after getting FDA approval.
