Oracle Moving It’s Database Services to Microsoft Azure’s Data Centers

Oracle and Microsoft announced a strategic collaboration, combining their unique capabilities in database and cloud technology to enhance the dependability, security, and efficiency of data-centric applications, such as artificial intelligence (AI).

Under the recently introduced Oracle Database at Azure initiative, both companies are physically deploying Oracle’s database hardware and software from Oracle Cloud into Microsoft Azure data centers. Oracle CTO Larry Ellison affirmed that customers who leverage Microsoft and Oracle technologies in tandem can expect top-tier performance.

The success of AI hinges on data, and the integration of Oracle’s database technology within Azure enables enterprises to seamlessly bring Azure OpenAI models to the very location where the data resides. This setup facilitates quick adjustments, pretraining, or prompting of models with minimal latency.

Microsoft and Oracle Collaboration

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, highlights the significance of this juncture, where data and AI converge to revolutionize businesses and their operational workflows, underscoring the profound timing of this convergence.

Enterprises are seeking a unified multi cloud solution. According to Ellison, customers are enthusiastic about this partnership and are pleased to see Microsoft and Oracle, often seen as competitors, collaborating to enhance customer benefits and streamline the convenience and cost-effectiveness of AI usage.

For instance, when training an Azure OpenAI model, a substantial amount of data often needs to be transferred from an Oracle database. By co-locating the model and the data, the process is optimized for maximum efficiency, ensuring that data and AI models are in close proximity, as explained by Ellison.

Nadella further emphasized that this development will significantly expedite the transition to the cloud, not only in terms of migration but also in enabling businesses to explore new possibilities. It is emphasized that data, usually stored in Oracle databases, plays an important role in the use of fraud. This new service aims to offer the best of both worlds and facilitate the evolution of business processes.

Specifically, users can access Azure portals and configure Oracle Autonomous Database on Exadata servers. This can be combined with OpenAI technology or other technologies available in the Microsoft Azure library. As Ellison noted, there is now multi-cloud integration.

Conclusion

The collaboration between Oracle and Microsoft promises to increase the reliability and security of data using information such as artificial intelligence. They simplify AI design and cloud migration by integrating Oracle’s database technology into Azure.

Collaboration between technology companies offers effective solutions to businesses looking to improve their data capabilities across multiple cloud environments.
