FIRST LOOK: Checkout Kentucky’s upcoming Blue Run Spirits bourbon distillery

Blue Run Spirits has revealed its plans for a new Distillery in Georgetown, Kentucky.

The company, which is known for its striking metallic butterfly bottle design, aims to modernize and update the Bourbon industry.

The distillery will feature a 35,000-square-foot facility and a 20,000-square-foot rick house and will break ground later this year.

The company hopes to create an immersive experience for visitors that includes education about bourbon and interactive opportunities.

Blue Run Spirits has partnered with other distilleries in the region since its launch in October 2020 and has sold 21,000 cases in 2022, a 300% year-over-year increase. The new distillery is expected to bring at least 45 full-time jobs to Kentucky.

The building’s design, called “Meander,” is intended to reflect the journey of limestone-rich water through the distilling, aging, and blending process.

Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, the building looks more like a monument or museum than a distillery.

CEO and co-founder Mike Montgomery says that the company wants to be an additive to the great bourbon community in Kentucky and hopes to inspire visitors to come back again and again.
