Juventus are set to welcome Thiago Motta as their next manager, as they already decided to fire Max Allegri after another underwhelming Serie A season in which the Bianconeri were more than 20 points behind arch rivals Inter Milan for the Scudetto.

Next up, Juventus will need to navigate the choppy waters of the summer transfer window carefully, as they are at risk of losing key players like Bremer while they still have a handful of pressing needs to address.

Thiago Motta is expected to help Juventus recruit within Calcio, as he has already earned a big reputation for pushing Bologna to a Champions League place and getting the most out of his young talents.

Two of those stars, Joshua Zirkzee and Riccardo Calafiori, are being linked closely to Juventus. However, incoming players aren’t the only thing to watch out for with Motta, because he could also push some stars out of Turin.

According to a report from Gianluca Di Marzio for Sky Sport Italia, Thiago Motta does not view Wojciech Szczesny or Federico Chiesa as regular starters next season.

That’s because Juventus are about to bring in Michele Di Gregorio, who is younger than Szczesny and even outperformed him in the 2023/24 season.

Szczesny is a great keeper, but Di Gregorio is even better and has a long-term future, whereas Szczesny only has one year left on his Juventus contract anyway.

The idea that Motta isn’t set on Chiesa is more surprising, though, and that is music to the ears of AC Milan and Roma fans, as both Juventus rivals are circling with interest in the former Fiorentina star.

Chiesa’s stock has plummeted after injuries and, more specifically, a lack of a role under Max Allegri. The top Italian talent could benefit from Motta believing in him in a more attacking system, but it appears that may not be the case.
