Bayern Munich complete Thomas Tuchel U-turn after dressing room stepped in

Thomas Tuchel is now in line to stay at Bayern Munich beyond this summer - after Harry Kane and other leading players 'stood up' for the German.

Bayern confirmed back in February that Tuchel, 50, would leave at the end of the season in the wake of a disappointing run of results. However, things haven't exactly gone to plan for Bayern since that announcement.

The German giants have struggled to appoint a successor and have been turned down by a number of targets, including former boss Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick.

They are now in talks to to extend Tuchel's contract - and fresh details on the Bayern hierarchy's U-turn have now emerged, with a report from Sky Germany claiming that Tuchel received strong backing from several senior players.

It's claimed that as well as having the support of Bayern chiefs Max Eberl and Christoph Fruend, Tuchel was backed by the likes of Kane, Leroy Sane, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Jamal Musiala, which had an influence on proceedings.

The report goes on to outline that while alternative targets like Erik ten Hag and Roberto De Zerbi have been on Bayern's radar, the priority for now is to find a way to continue with Tuchel.

And with talks now taking place to see if a compromise can be met, the most remarkable of turnarounds is almost complete.

Tuchel has recently been linked with Manchester United in the wake of speculation that the Red Devils could make a managerial change this summer. Some reports have even claimed that Tuchel would favour such a move should a vacancy arise.

And Tuchel, who previously managed Chelsea, made no attempt to hide his fondness for the Premier League during an interview with TNT Sports earlier this month.

"This is a tricky road where you lead me. I’d rather not answer," he replied when he was asked whether he would like to return to England at some point in the future. "But it is no secret that I loved it in England and I loved it in the Premier League for sure. It was a very, very special time in England, and I remember it very well."
