PREMIER LEAGUE: Arsenal defender to miss the rest of the season

The defender will now be sidelined for the remainder of the 2022–23 campaign after being forced to leave the game against Sporting CP in the Europa League.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, a Japanese right back for Arsenal, underwent surgery for a knee injury and will miss the rest of the season, the club has announced.

The rest of the season will be missed by Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu was substituted early in Arsenal’s round of 16 loss to Sporting CP at the Emirates Stadium, and a report on his injury situation indicates that he won’t play any more for the Gunners in the 2022–23 campaign.

Takehiro Tomiyasu got injured just 9 minutes into the UEL game against Sporting CP

Tomiyasu’s injury, according to the team, put an end to his season. He is anticipated to return for Arsenal’s preseason leading up to the 2023–24 campaign, the club said in a statement posted on Twitter.

Injury challenges for Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu has had an injury-riddled Arsenal career since joining the North London club in the summer of 2021, despite playing a significant role in the Arsenal setup.

He missed time this season before being ruled out with this most recent knee injury. He missed two months of action during his first season with the club due to injury.

To fill in for Tomiyasu as he has in the Japanese player’s previous absences, Arsenal will look to English center-back turned full-back. White contributed to a goal in Arsenal’s 4-1 rout of Crystal Palace, demonstrating his ability to successfully fill Tomiyasu’s shoes.
