Litton Das Returns: Bangladesh Gears Up for Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 Stage

Bangladesh's Litton Das is set to make a comeback for the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023 after recovering from viral fever. Initially sidelined from the squad in Sri Lanka for the tournament's opener, Das has now received medical clearance and is ready to rejoin the team.

Bangladesh secured their spot in this stage with an impressive 89-run victory over Afghanistan, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who filled in for Das at the top of the order, achieving a memorable century.

Despite losing their first game to Sri Lanka, Bangladesh's win over Afghanistan secured their place in the Super 4 stage.

"The Asia Cup squad has a few injury concerns, and the team management felt the need for an additional player going into the Super Four," stated Minhajul Abedin, Chairman of the Bangladesh Cricket Board selection panel. "We have received the BCB Medical Team’s clearance regarding Litton’s health and have decided to send him to Pakistan.”

It will be intriguing to see how Bangladesh reshuffles their batting order with Das's return. Mehidy and Mohammad Naim opened the batting against Afghanistan after Tanzid Hasan's early dismissal in the opening game.

Najmul Hossain Shanto, batting at No. 3, has also been in good form, scoring a century against Afghanistan. If Das returns to the top of the order, Mehidy may be moved down the order to his usual batting position.
