Madhya Pradesh vsAndhra

It was the bowlers' day out with 15 wickets going down on Day 3 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore, with Madhya Pradesh fighting back after conceding the first Innings lead. At the close of play, the hosts were 58/0 chasing 245 for victory and a spot in the semifinal.

Meanwhile, Hanuma Vihari's bravery was the talk of the town again as he came out to bat at No.11 despite a fractured wrist he sustained in the first innings. Vihari, just like he did in the first innings, batted one-handed with a left-handed stance, and scored 15 off 16 - which included three fours - before he was the last to be dismissed as Andhra were bowled out for 93 in their second essay. Avesh Khan bagged a four-wicket haul while Gaurav Yadav picked up three.

Maharashtra's openers Himanshu Mantri and Yash Dubey were unbeaten at Stumps, having made a good start to the chase. Earlier in the day, Madhya Pradesh resumed at 144/4, and kept losing wickets at regular intervals as they slipped to 179/8. A handy partnership of 48 between Kumar Kartikeya and Avesh helped Madhya Pradesh reduce the deficit. Andhra, nevertheless, managed to take a 151-run lead, bowling out Madhya Pradesh for 228, with Prithvi Raj picking up a five-wicket haul. Andhra, however, failed to come good with the bat in their second innings as they lost wickets in a heap. Ashwin Hebbar's top score of 35, and the second best being Vihari's contribution, highlighted Andhra's struggles on Day 3.

Karnataka vs Uttarakhand

A career-best 161 not out by Shreyas Gopal extended Karnataka's domination against Uttarakhand at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gopal's knock powered the home team to 606 before they bagged three quick wickets to leave the opposition in further trouble. Uttarakhand ended the day at 106/3, still needing 384 runs to make Karnataka bat again.

Karnataka started the day at 474/5 with Gopal unbeaten on 103. The No.6 was involved in useful stands with BR Sharath and Krishnappa Gowtham, putting on 69 and 85 for the sixth and seventh wickets respectively. Karnataka were eventually bowled out after crossing 600, with Abhay Negi bagging four wickets.

Vidwath Kaverappa did early damage as he sent the openers back to the hut with only 43 on the board. Debutant M Venkatesh, who bagged a five-wicket haul in the first innings, accounted for Kunal Chandela to leave Uttarakhand at 56/3. An unbroken 50-run partnership between Dikshanshu Negi and Swapnil Singh kept Karnataka at bay but the hosts remain on track to secure an innings victory.

Bengal vs Jharkhand

Shahbaz Ahmed's all-round performance put Bengal in a position of strength against Jharkhand in the quarterfinal encounter at the Eden Gardens. Shahbaz's 81 was instrumental in Bengal finishing with 328 in their first innings to gain a substantial lead. The left-handed all-rounder also starred with the ball, picking up a couple of wickets to leave Jharkhand at 162/7 in their second innings, with the visitors ahead by only seven runs at Stumps.

Bengal, who started the day at 238/5, were reduced to 256/6 with Abishek Porel being dismissed for 33. Shahbaz was batting on 25 at that stage and he started finding the boundaries regularly to build on the lead. Having reached his fifty off 90 balls, he upped the ante as he helped Bengal cross 300. He was the last to be dismissed but only after he helped the hosts pick up a lead of 166.

Jharkhand were reduced to 21/4 in their second innings before Aryaman Sen (64) Anukul Roy (40) put on a 71-run partnership as they tried to steady the ship. However, the fifth wicket association was ended by Shahbaz who dismissed Anukul and also picked up the wicket of Virat Singh (29). Jharkhand were in further trouble as the well-set Aryaman fell to Ishan Porel, leaving the lower order with a lot of work to do.

Saurashtra vs Punjab

Punjab ended Day 3 in a strong position against Saurashtra, as they picked up a healthy lead and also made quick inroads with the ball in the home team's second innings. Mandeep Singh's 91 helped Punjab finish with 431 before Vinay Choudhary picked up three wickets to leave Saurashtra in a spot of bother. The hosts went into Stumps at 138/4, leading by only 10 runs.

Resuming at 327/5, Mandeep and Anmol Malhotra (41) extended their partnership to 72 as Punjab built on the lead. Although Punjab lost a couple of wickets Mandeep helped the side past the 400-run mark, with Choudhary assisting him in a 49-run eighth wicket stand. Dharmendrasinh Jadeja's five-wicket haul brought an end to the innings but Punjab finished with a lead of 128.

Snell Patel scored a quick 33 but watched from the other end as Harvik Desai and Vishvaraj Jadeja were dismissed cheaply by Choudhary. Snell then fell to Siddarth Kaul while Sheldon Jackson became Choudhary's third scalp as Saurashtra were reduced to 60/4. An unbroken 78-run association between Arpit Vasavada (44) and Chirag Jani (35) aided Saurashtra in damage control but they still have much to do in order to set Punjab a challenging total.
