From January 13 to January 29, the towns of Bhubaneswar and Rourkela in the Indian state of Odisha will host the 15th edition of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup.

After placing fourth in the Asia Cup 2022, Japan earned a spot in this World Cup. In each of the previous three World Cups, Japan was unable to advance. The 18-person roster for the 2023 FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup, which will be hosted in Odisha, India, has been announced by the two-time finalist. The team will try to put up a solid fight despite having a relatively inexperienced group in terms of amount of appearances. The player with the most appearances for Spain will be Igliasis Alvaro, who will be followed by Gonzalez Enrique. There will be two reserve players traveling with the team in addition to the main squad.

In the opening round of the competition, Spain is due to face the hosts, India, and will also face England and Wales from Group D. The Spanish team came in 13th place overall and was unable to reach the knockout rounds in the 2018 competition.
