Rejected entrant believes Andretti set for F1 inclusion

A knowledgeable insider predicts Formula 1 will welcome Andretti-Cadillac as the eleventh entrant in the championship.

This week, the FIA disclosed that among multiple submissions for the eleventh and twelfth team slots, only Andretti’s proposition was approved.

Yet, the concluding part of this selection involves business discussions with Liberty Media. Notably, both the F1 proprietor and a majority of the existing ten teams have voiced their reservations about introducing an eleventh team.

However, Rodin Cars’ chief David Dicker, who paired with Carlin for a team proposition that was declined by the FIA, is optimistic about Andretti’s entry.

“I don’t think there’s any chance in a million years that Andretti is not going to get in,” he conveyed to the British publication, the Mirror.

“I would pretty much bet everything I own,” expressed the Australian businessman, who reportedly boasts a net worth of $1 billion.

“If the Formula 1 guys turn them down – I just couldn’t imagine it,” Dicker remarked.

Dicker believes that the current teams should remain uninvolved in Liberty’s business dialogues with Andretti. This is in spite of claims from teams that an additional team might devalue their respective establishments.

Dicker added: “I can’t imagine the commercial side of F1 turning them down, because where’s the negative? More teams are always going to make it more interesting, it’s just as simple as that.

“If you look at comments online, I’d say support for a new team – no matter who it was – has to be running at 80 or 90 percent.

“I’ll be amazed if Andretti don’t get in,” he insisted. “Traditionally, it’s always been 26 cars and the only reason why they went down to 10 was because they brought in four new teams back in 2010 and those teams couldn’t survive.”
