Ferrari in Need of ‘Restructure’ for Team Turnaround – Leader

Frederic Vasseur acknowledges that there is a pressing requirement for Ferrari to “restructure” its setup.

Italian media outlets are once more severely critical of the iconic Maranello team’s recent outcomes following the Dutch Grand Prix, where sluggish speed was augmented by both team and driver errors.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport called it a “shameful” performance, while Corriere dello Sport was in agreement, terming it a “very dark weekend” for Ferrari.

La Stampa further weighed in with: “Ferrari at rock bottom.”

Ferrari had disclosed during the Zandvoort race that their 2024 chassis and bundle would be entirely different, leading some to question if the problematic development direction this year is an inherited issue from Vasseur’s predecessor, Mattia Binotto.

Vasseur told Sky Italia when asked if he’s been handed a problematic team: “We have to do the best possible job with what we have right now.

“I don’t want to think that it is a question of inheritance. We are improving and hiring a lot of people, but we also know that we have to restructure our system,” the Frenchman admitted.

Charles Leclerc experienced an especially troubling weekend at Zandvoort from beginning to end, but fellow driver Carlos Sainz elevated his possibilities for a renewed 2024 agreement.

“His effort was outstanding, the way he kept Hamilton and Norris at bay,” Vasseur noted.

Some analysts speculate that Ferrari’s conspicuous absence of speed over the Dutch GP weekend resulted from an ill-advised selection of aerodynamic equipment.

“I hope we’ll be better again at Monza,” Sainz stated.

“We suffered a lot here, we have been very slow and Alpine and McLaren were faster than us.”
