However, even during some of his title-winning seasons, the competition was often limited to a two-horse race between Hamilton and his teammates Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas.
Former F1 race winner Juan Pablo Montoya, not one to mince words, has entered the fray, lambasting Hamilton for his complaints. Montoya emphasizes that it’s easy to critique from the sidelines when victories are elusive, pointing out that Hamilton himself had downplayed any advantages held by Mercedes during his own dominant years.
After the seven-time World Champion suggested Mercedes had never been as dominant as Red Bull currently stands, Montoya told Colombian outlet Semana: “It’s very cool to complain when you are not winning.
“But when he was winning, he said that the car had no advantage but the advantage Mercedes had was just as big.
“I don’t want to say that Hamilton is not good, he is a very good driver but the reality of this sport is that you have to be in the best car.”
