Lewis Hamilton posted a video to his Instagram account on Wednesday showing him driving a Nissan Skyline R34 down the Tokyo Expressway.

It was a really appealing video because of the slick editing and the Dom Dolla song Pump the Brakes playing in the background.

“I only like to drive on track, although I make exceptions,” Hamilton wrote as the caption. His video quickly received millions of likes from his enormous online fan base.

Omoshiro Rent-A-Car, a Japanese car rental company used Twitter to criticize Hamilton’s antics almost 48 hours after he aired his video. By their own admission, it appears that they own the vehicle, and Hamilton’s several stunts were a violation of their rules.

“This is a car from Omoshiro Rent-A-Car, but it was not taken with permission from our company. Such driving is strictly prohibited,” said the rental company on their Twitter account.

Although the Japanese government is known for being tough with its laws and regulations, it’s unlikely Hamilton will encounter any huge problems there.

Some fans cannot help but laugh at Hamilton exposing himself because it was he who shared the video with his millions of followers.

“He actually posted incriminating evidence himself I’m crying man,” laughed one Twitter user, poking fun at Hamilton’s Instagram video.

The British driver has not responded to the accusations yet, but some internet users have speculated that the 37-year-old has put himself in a difficult situation and has no way out.

“There is evidence of him driving dangerously. It wasn’t in a closed-off section of the road for him to do it either. There’s no defence for him here,” posted another Twitter user.

Whether the rental firm will take legal action against Hamilton for misusing their car or whether the British driver will respond to the allegations is still up in the air, but after a roller coaster year for Hamilton, this controversy will be the last thing he would have wanted.

Hamilton got into an issue with the Melbourne police in 2010 after he was caught driving a Mercedes road car recklessly. The Briton was arrested when he was discovered doing burnouts.

The 25-year-old racer ridiculed himself for the incident. In 2007, he was also barred from driving in France for a month after exceeding the 121 mph speed limit.
