Sergio Perez’s Seat At Red Bull Guaranteed In Spite Of Ricciardo’s Comeback And The Conflict With Max Verstappen.

As reported by DailyStar, following the conflict with Max Verstappen at the Brazilian GP, Sergio Perez’s position at Red Bull has been uncertain with Daniel Ricciardo’s announcement as the third driver for the 2023 season.

However, since Daniel Ricciardo’s comeback to Red Bull as a third driver, Sergio Perez’s position there has been assured. Four years after leaving for Renault(currently Alpine) and being fired by McLaren a year ahead of the expiration of his contract, Ricciardo has returned to the Austrian-based team.

After two years of struggling at McLaren, Ricciardo plans to use the transfer to restart his career to return to the grid in 2024. This has led to rumours that the Australian is considering competing as Max Verstappen’s teammate.

Due to Verstappen’s refusal to concede the sixth-place position to Perez at the Brazilian GP, there has been friction between the current racing drivers. Because to a purported scene Perez is accused of committing this season, the Dutchman defied the team’s instructions.

Verstappen refused to elaborate, but it is assumed that he believes Perez intentionally crashed in May’s Monaco GP’s qualifying session. Perez began the race ahead of his teammate because of this, and he later won it.

The drivers and Red Bull have worked extremely hard to reaffirm that the two still have a good relationship after the Sao Paulo incident. Team principal Christian Horner said Perez’s position inside the team is unchanged as he addressed Ricciardo’s comeback.

Upon being questioned about whether Ricciardo could possibly drive, Horner told the media that: “Daniel’s contract is very specific for a specific reason, we have a contract with Checo for the next two years and he has made a good step this year.”

“He felt more comfortable in the team at the beginning of the year after joining in that first year during a COVID period. What the partnership of Max and Checo had produced has been phenomenal for us.

“The five one-two finishes, the Constructors’ Championship that we hadn’t won for eight years is a phenomenal achievement and obviously [given] the combination of both drivers and their points contributions, they do have a good relationship.

“They’ve raced well for the team, and we’ve got no reason to see that being any different tomorrow or for the duration of their contractual commitment to the team thereafter.”

In his position, Ricciardo will primarily concentrate on the marketing and simulator-related assignments.
