Aaron Judge’s support hands over Boone a new lease on Yankees life

Yankees captain Aaron Judge delivered a significant show of support for Aaron Boone on Thursday giving rise to speculations about the manager retaining his job. This came amid rumors that the kids’ party has helped salvage Boone’s Yankees job.

In a discussion with SNY’s Andy Martino, Aaron Judge expressed his desire for Boone to continue as the manager for the upcoming season when addressing the manager’s future before their game against Detroit at Yankee Stadium.

“No,” he said. “I want to answer that. I’ve been with Boonie all the way since 2018. He’s the guy.”

When asked about his loyalty to Boone, Aaron Judge explained that the Yankees manager had been a consistent presence for the team during both prosperous and challenging periods. The slugger also emphasized the point that Boone unfailingly showed up and supported his players.

“He has been there for us in good times and bad times,” the Yankees captain said. “The guy shows up and supports his players. You can probably tell by the amount of times he’s been thrown out of games that he always has our back.”

Aaron Judge defends Boone

Aaron Judge claimed that one could infer from the frequency of Boone being ejected from games that he consistently supported and defended the team.

Boone is currently in his sixth season with the Yankees, and the team has not reached the World Series during his tenure. He has faced significant criticism from Yankees fans during the team’s challenging season. The Yankees, with a current record of 70-69, find themselves at the bottom of the AL East standings and are trailing the American League’s final wild-card spot by 6 ½ games as they approach Thursday’s game.

Hal Steinbrenner made a commitment last month to conduct a thorough examination of the organization to understand the ongoing issues. General manager Brian Cashman went as far as characterizing this season as a “disaster” for the Yankees. Boone, who assumed the role of manager in 2018, is expected to be included in Steinbrenner’s evaluations during the upcoming offseason.

Aaron Judge is likely to be involved in the offseason discussions and planning, adding significance to his comments made on Thursday.

The Yankees’ most notable achievements under Boone’s leadership were their appearances in the American League Championship Series in 2019 and 2022, both of which ended in series losses to the Astros.

Regarding Boone’s role in the development of Yankees prospects, including Jasson Dominguez and others recently called up, Aaron Judge Expressed his approval in that regard as well.

“I think [he] definitely [is],” Judge said. “He is a great person for that.”

Aaron Judge expressed his belief that the person in question was indeed great in that regard.

Aaron Judge also expressed support for retaining the new hitting coach, Sean Casey, who was brought on by the Yankees midseason to address the team’s hitting woes.

“So having another guy like that around Boone — they just go hand in hand to show these young guys what this game is all about. It’s not all about numbers,” he said. “It’s not all about what happens on a computer screen. It’s about watching the game, reading the game, having fun with the game. I never forget why we play this game. So I’m excited to see what happens.”

Aaron Judge praised him noting that he possessed a strong baseball acumen and had a knack for understanding pitchers. He mentioned that Casey had a wealth of baseball stories and a unique ability to help players relax and focus on their performance. Aaron Judge emphasized that they had a good grasp of the daily challenges of the game and had a knack for keeping the team relaxed and prepared.
