The Yankees are looking to bring back Benintendi

Brendan Kuty of NJ Advance Media says that the Yankees’ top goal this winter is still to bring back Andrew Benintendi. A source says that the Yankees would rather reunite with the outfielder they got at the trade deadline than make a big deal for Pirates star Bryan Reynolds. Benintendi said he wanted to go back to New York after the season, and Brian Cashman is said to have said he’d “love” to have the 28-year-old left-handed pitcher back.

The Yankees are in for pitcher Rondon

Carlos Rodón is one of the most well-known starting pitchers who are still available as free agents. Jon Heyman of the New York Post says that the “Yankees are in the Rodón sweepstakes.” This comes right after the Yankees won a big battle to keep star outfielder Aaron Judge. Brendan Kuty reported on Friday that the Yankees are very interested in the left-handed pitcher.

The left-handed pitcher will turn 30 on Saturday, and teams like the Blue Jays, Dodgers, Giants, Mets, and Rangers have been interested in him since he became a free agent. Now, Heyman says that the Yankees want to add another arm in part because they want to “please Judge,” who is the team’s most famous player.

The Yankees, Mets have different offseason strategies

According to Matthew Roberson of the New York Daily News, the Yankees’ offseason was clearly shaped by the Judge sweepstakes. On the other hand, the Mets’ main goal was to improve their pitching staff. Roberson also says that the Mets’ moves are meant to help them win right now, while the Yankees’ moves are always made with both the present and the future in mind.

Carlos Correa is on the Yankees’ shopping list

MLB insider Buster Olney has claimed that start shortstop Carlos Correa is going to the Yankees. Correa amply fits the star power that the Yankees need and Olney foresees them upstaging the Giants again to have the shortstop.

No more position player for the Yankees

A Sports Illustrated report claims that the Yankees won’t add any more position players this offseason and will rely a lot on the players they already have and the prospects they have. It lists the lineup as: “Harrison Bader leads off in the center, followed by Judge in right, Anthony Rizzo at first, Giancarlo Stanton as DH, Gleyber Torres at second, Josh Donaldson at third, Oswaldo Cabrera in left, Oswald Peraza at short, and Jose Trevino behind the plate. This means that DJ LeMahieu and Isiah Kiner-Falefa will be used as bench players.”

A-Rod favors the Mets over the Yankees

In a recent segment on ESPN’s SportsCenter, MLB analyst Alex Rodriguez spoke, “I think the New York Mets are the smartest team in baseball right now. They got Verlander, and they just signed Quintana. With Mets owner Steven Cohen and manager Buck Showalter, who I think is one of the best baseball minds in the game, I think the Mets will do even better in the future.”

Yankees are talking to Diamondbacks to trade Hick, Donaldson

Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic has reported that the Yankees and the Diamondbacks are talking about a trade. They want to trade Josh Donaldson and Aaron Hicks for one of Arizona’s young outfielders like Daulton Varsho, Alek Thomas, or Jake McCarthy. Also, the cost of the Diamondbacks’ outfielders is limited, which might appeal to general manager Brian Cashman.

What do you think about the trade talks? Can the Yankees offload Donaldson? Leave your comment below.
