On Wednesday, May 15, prior to Sunrisers Hyderabad’s upcoming IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans, previous captain Aiden Markram discussed the roles that Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Abhishek Sharma played in the team’s outstanding season.
 
For Sunrisers Hyderabad to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs, they must win their final two league stage games. After defeating Lucknow by 166 runs in ten overs, Hyderabad claimed a commanding ten-wicket victory in their most recent match, thanks to centuries from openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head.

Having played for the SRH since the 2014 Indian Premier League, Bhuvneshwar has been outstanding in the last few games despite struggling to get wickets early in the season. This season, the right-arm medium bowler has claimed 11 wickets at an economy rate of 9.13, winning games against Mumbai and Lucknow.

“To be honest, I don’t think Bhuvneshwar Kumar ever lost it,” Aiden Markram stated to PTI. “He sort of takes the lead in a quiet, collected manner. For us, it’s been amazing to watch.

However, the bowling staff as a whole has effectively met the hitters’ challenge this season with the presence of impact players. They developed their own special strategies for trying to maintain wicket-taking while simultaneously trying to calm down the hitters. However, having someone like Bhuvi lead from the front, as he has done for a very long time, has undoubtedly been fantastic for you.”

With 90 wickets in 86 innings, Bhuvneshwar, 34, is still India’s most successful T20I fast bowler. However, he hasn’t played for his country since November 2022 and is unlikely to return to the national squad.
