RR’s ‘Lack of Intent’ Debacle: Kumar Sangakkara Minces No Words

Rajasthan Royals head coach feels that their batters were not up to par against the Chennai Super Kings. Rajasthan Royals, who suffered their third loss on the trot, were beaten by Chennai by 5 wickets.

After electing to bat first, the Rajasthan Royals could only score 141 runs, with nearly all their batters playing extra cautious innings except Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, who scored 47 and 28, respectively.

Sangakkara feels that Rajasthan were 25–30 runs short of the score where they would have liked to finish.

In his post-match presentation, Sangakkara said,”The pitch was precisely as slow as we had anticipated. Chennai bowled pretty well, in my opinion. During that middle part, we didn’t really intend to bat with the ball. We lost steam with all those dot balls, even in the first few balls that could have been put away.”

Sangakkara further added,We didn’t intend to sprint quickly and hit the gaps. We were 25–30 runs short despite Chennai’s excellent bowling, even though I knew it was really hot for the players. Although this was a 170-180 wicket, we were not long enough.”
