Virat Kohli has once again ignited the strike rate debate after his match-winning performance against the Punjab Kings, scoring 47 balls (92), which included 7 fours and 6 sixes. After the match, Virat said that he knows that he needs to bring his attacking game to the fore against the Spinners. Virat Kohli is in phenomenal form this year, as he has scored 634 runs at an astonishing average of 70.44.

In his post-match presentation, Virat Kohli said, “For me, it’s still quality over quantity. For me, it works really well. Also, understanding the game allows you to practice less; just try to replicate what I have done in the past. You are still aiming to improve aspects of the game that you want to get better at. It’s an evolving process.”

“I brought out the slog sweep against the spinners,” Virat Kohli continued. Although I am aware that I have hit it before, I did not practice. Constantly seeking to reveal that side of the field in opposition to spin. I understand that taking chances requires some conviction. I’ve been able to avoid thinking about it. For the sake of the team and myself, I’m attempting to maintain the strike rate.” 

In spite of being the most consistent batter this season, there have been a couple of innings from Virat Kohli that have come under scrutiny as they do not align with modern-day Twenty20 cricket.

Virat Kohli, in his post-match presentation, further added, “Have to be honest, we were not good enough in the first half of the tournament. We got to a point where we said, Don’t look at the table; play for self-respect.” 

Kohli further added, “Make yourselves and the fans proud.” We need to raise our level. If we had done so earlier, we wouldn’t be in a position to need to rely on so many factors.”
