The devastating Australian opening batsman David Warner made history by scoring a century in the second ODI match against South Africa. This was his 46th century as an opening batsman in international cricket and with this he has surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Warner had been struggling with his form since a long time but the century against South Africa will definitely give him a boost before the ODI World Cup.

Out of 46 Centuries, Warner has recorded 25 in Test cricket, 20 in one-day internationals, and one in T20 internationals. As an opener, Sachin Tendulkar has 45 international centuries to his name. Chris Gayle is in third place with 42 centuries, while Sanath Jayasuriya is fourth with 41 centuries. Matthew Hayden is in fifth place with 40 centuries and current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is in sixth place with 39 international centuries.

Not only this, the left-handed batter occupies the third position in terms of being the fastest to score 20 centuries in ODIs. He achieved this milestone in 142 matches. The top spot is held by the former South African batsman who accomplished this feat in 108 matches, while Virat Kohli is in second place with 20 ODI centuries in 133 matches.

David Warner has now equaled Sachin Tendulkar in terms of scoring the most centuries against South Africa. Both Sachin and Warner have registered 5 centuries against South Africa. With 4 centuries, Virat Kohli is also in the list. Warner reached his century in just 85 deliveries, hitting 12 fours and 3 sixes during his innings. He also surpassed 6000 runs as an opening batsman in ODIs and now he is the fourth fastest to achieve this milestone in the format. In the match against South Africa, Warner played a brilliant knock of 106 runs off 93 balls which includes 12 fours and 3 sixes.
