Former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer believes that fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will play a crucial role in the 2023 Cricket World Cup happening in India. The tournament is scheduled to take place in India during October and November.The Indian pacer has not played competitive cricket since 2022 and he has been suffering from a lower back fracture. However, according to a latest report of the BCCI, Bumrah is recovering well and he is practising hard in the nets to get his fitness back.While having a conversation with Jio Cinema, Wasim Jaffer highlighted the importance of Jasprit Bumrah for India in the upcoming 50-over world cup.

He said that team India is missing Bumrah in the death overs. He feels that Bumrah will make the same impact on world cricket as the earlier days after making his comeback for the team.Wasim Jaffer said,”He is a huge part of the bowling attack. I feel he will have an extremely important role in the World Cup. We are missing him in death bowling. We have missed him this entire year.

However, he needs to come back to fitness, and there will be a question mark whether he will be able to bowl the same way, at the same pace. If that, there can’t be anything better than that.”Veteran Indian pacer Ishant Sharma also talked about the importance of Bumrah for team India and he said that the bowler needs to regain his fitness very soon to contribute for the national team.”He is extremely important, not for one, but for all formats. However, keeping the World Cup in mind, he is a very important player. He has won India so many matches in tough conditions.

He is a senior player as well. He captained the side in a Test match as well. So according to me, Jasprit Bumrah will remain the leader of the pack in the World Cup. So it is extremely important for him to get fit,” said Ishant.
