Manchester City's pursuit of Erling Haaland has taken a significant step forward as Fabrizio Romano Now Confirms.

Manchester City's pursuit of Erling Haaland has advanced significantly, with the club reaching an agreement with the player's representatives.

Sportsmail understands that a suitable financial package has been approved, making Haaland the Premier League's highest-paid player on more than £500,000 per week.

City are now expected to activate the 21-year-old striker's £63 million release clause at Borussia Dortmund, and if all goes well, a five-year agreement could be completed within the next week or two.

Dortmund stated last week that nothing had been agreed upon and that they were seeking a resolution with others in the hunt, notably Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

There was a chance the player's contract might be extended for another year. City, on the other hand, has stayed quietly confident throughout the process and is now closing in on the prolific forward manager Pep Guardiola desires.

The Spaniard lost out on signing Harry Kane last summer, and despite winning the Premier League, City has looked short up front at times.

Haaland, who was born in Leeds and has previously played for Red Bull Salzburg and Molde, scored twice in Dortmund's 6-1 victory against Wolfsburg on Saturday, giving him 33 goals in 31 games for club and country this season.

Alf-Inge, his father, played for City and has been significantly involved in the discussions.

This publication stated in March that City had a box seat for Haaland, who is regarded as Europe's hottest property, and that personal conditions had been negotiated.

A weekly salary of moreover £500,000 would put him ahead of Kevin De Bruyne, who earns roughly £385,000.

If the trade goes through, Haaland might make his debut for City in the United States, as the club plans to travel the Atlantic for two games in July.

His native Norway, on the other hand, is in Nations League action four times in June, with their most recent encounter against rivals Sweden taking place on June 12.
