Barcelona have produced another gem as 17-year-old Marc Guiu scored 33 seconds into his first-team debut to beat Athletic Club 1-0 in La Liga.

The 17-year-old started his career at a fan club of Barcelona before being picked up by La Masia aged seven and progressing through the ranks.

The Spain u-17 international was called up to the senior squad for pre-season games against Celta Viga and Vissel Kobe, where he would make his unofficial debut for the club.

Guiu was named on the bench for the first time in a 2-2 draw against Granada earlier this month, before making his official first team debut against Athletic Club, replacing fellow youngster Fermin Lopez.

Just seconds into his debut, he was played through with a ball in behind by Joao Felix and finished coolly past the onrushing Spanish international Unai Simon.

At just 17 years and 291 days old the youngster scored for Barcelona with just his second ever touch, which makes him the youngest player to score on debut for La Blaugrana in La Liga this century.

Guiu replaces Lionel Messi as Barcelona’s fifth youngest scorer of all time and we’ve taken a look at the other young guns to strike early for the Spanish giants.

Gavi – 17 years, 4 months & 13 days

Gavi has been a mainstay of the Barcelona midfield since he broke onto the scene under Ronald Koeman in 2021. Touted as the next Xavi by La Liga fans, it’s not hard to see why.

Blessed with incredible dribbling, a sublime first touch and intelligence way beyond his 19 years, the youngster was named the 2022 Golden Boy winner, an award won previously by Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney and Kylian Mbappe.

Gavi’s first La Liga goal came back in 2021 against Elche, aged just 17, and it was sublime.

The midfielder picked up the ball on the half turn, spun his man on the half-way line before he ghosted past another Elche defender and smashed the ball into the bottom corner.

The youngster has broken records left, right and centre, and he became Spain’s youngest ever scorer in 2022. His goal at the 2022 World Cup against Costa Rica meant he became the third youngest scorer in the competition’s history.

Bojan Krkic – 17 years, 1 month & 22 days

Now retired at the age of 33, Bojan burst onto the scene in the 2007/08 season after scoring 10 La Liga goals, but the once touted ‘next Messi’ would fail to hit double digits again across his career.

The forward was thrust straight into the first team picture under manager Frank Rijkaard and made his debut against Osasuna that September, replacing Giovani dos Santos as a substitute.

It was October 2007, on his first league start, where Bojan scored the first of his 26 La Liga goals. During a 3-1 defeat at Villarreal he found the net after being assisted, of course, by Messi.

The Argentine sliced open the Yellow Submarine’s defences and played through the teenager, who finished at the near post after 24 minutes.

The former Milan, Ajax and Roma star would later become the youngest player to score in the knockout phase in the Champions League, netting the only goal in Barcelona’s quarter-final first leg against Schalke in April 2008.

Ansu Fati – 16 years & 10 months

The now Brighton loanee grabbed his first Seagulls goal on September 30th aged just 20, but his first goal for Barcelona came a lot longer ago than that.

The winger signed his first professional deal with five-time Champions League winners in the summer of 2019 and by August that year, he had his first senior goal.

Fati was subbed on at half-time with his side 1-0 down away to Osasuna, but six minutes later the youngster latched onto the end of a Carles Perez cross and guided a bullet header into the bottom corner.

In December 2019, the Spanish international became the youngest scorer in Champions League history when he netted the winner against Inter Milan at the San Siro.

The La Liga winner has experienced bad luck with injuries since, only playing 17 times in the two seasons after his breakout campaign, but a loan to Brighton could see him rekindle his early Barcelona form.

Fati played 36 times in La Liga last campaign and netted seven goals, but has seen his place on the right wing come under threat, by a teenager who tops this list…

Lamine Yamal – 16 years, 2 months & 25 days

A left-footed Barcelona right winger with great passing, dribbling and scoring abilities, so many players that have come through La Masia have been lazily compared to Lionel Messi, but Lamine Yamal certainly has a strong case.

The Spanish international became the youngest player ever to appear for the La Liga champions at the back end of last season, aged just 15, and he has made the right wing spot his own at the Camp Nou this season.

After he picked up two assists in a Man of the Match performance over Villarreal, Yamal scored his first La Liga goal in a 2-2 draw against Granada this October.

On the stroke of half time, Yamal couldn’t believe his luck when the ball fell to him at the back post for a tap-in to make the score 2-1.

He won’t score an easier goal, but the youngster is off the mark.
