Jurgen Klopp has predicted a tough game for Liverpool as his team take on Everton in the Merseyside Derby this weekend.

Liverpool host their cross-town rivals in the Premier League on Saturday lunchtime, as the Reds look to maintain a recent dominance in this fixture.

Liverpool have lost just once against Everton at Anfield since the turn of the millennium, but Klopp is predicting a difficult test against the improving Blues.

After a slow start to the season, Everton have won three of their last four games in all competitions, including an impressive 3-1 win at Brentford before the international break.

“It is a special game, a high-pressure game,” Klopp said on the derby at his pre-match press conference.

“All the players are used to the kind of game. We shouldn’t make it too big for the new players; they are ready for it.”

Everton are 16th in the Premier League table, but rank second in the league for shots per 90 minutes this season and fifth for expected goals. Klopp believes the Toffees are in a ‘good moment’ and admits Sean Dyche sides are always tough to play against.

“All the [previous derby] games were difficult for different reasons. Everton is in a good moment, for three or four weeks they’ve got results. It is clear. Burnley in their best moments was a super difficult team to play and you can see again similar things [from Sean Dyche]. It will be a tough one; derbies are tough, Premier League games are tough.”
