Referees are throwing around cards at a rapid rate in the Premier League this season, with officials having gone card crazy across the opening weeks of the campaign.

Brentford’s Aaron Hickey became the third player to pick up a suspension for accumulating five yellow cards this weekend, after being booked during the Bees’ dramatic defeat at Manchester United.

Hickey will follow Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon and Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson in serving a suspension for cumulative cautions after just eight Premier League games this season.

Premier League Players are banned for receiving five yellow cards in their opening 19 league fixtures and there are a number of notable names treading a fine line in the coming weeks.
