Five of the best: Zlatan Ibrahimovic goals

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the greatest mavericks modern football has seen, with the Swedish superstar spending two decades at the summit of the European game.

Ibrahimovic’s career runs like a roll call of European football royalty, spending time scoring goals – and plenty of them – at some of the top clubs in the game.

The forward won 12 league titles across four different major leagues, in a career that contained 511 club goals and a record-breaking 62 in 122 caps for Sweden at international level.

In celebration of the sublime striker, we’ve remembered some of the greatest goals from Ibrahimovic’s career.

Five of the best – Zlatan Ibrahimovic goals:

Ajax vs NAC Breda (2004)

Ajax was Ibrahimovic’s first port of call after leaving Sweden, with the forward fast becoming a household name in the Eredivisie.

Ibrahimovic’s sensational solo goal against NAC Breda was the sign-off to his stay in Amsterdam, coming just two months before his move to Juventus. The forward feigned and feinted past a number of challenges as an entire defence was made to look foolish.

Hotdogs all round.

Inter Milan vs CSKA Moscow (2007)

Zlatan produced some of his best football at Inter Milan, where he racked up 66 goals across three seasons and was twice named as Serie A Footballer of the Year.

Among his best was this blast as Inter came from two goals down to beat CSKA Moscow in the Champions League. The Sweden slammed home the fourth goal from distance to complete the comeback.

Sweden vs England (2012)

The night that saw Ibrahimovic turn his English doubters into believers.

A modest record against English opponents had some on these shores questioning just whether Zlatan was indeed, all that. A friendly fixture to mark the opening of Sweden’s Friends Arena soon ended those suggestions, as Ibrahimovic scored all four goals in a 4-2 win for the hosts.

The fourth was a moment of genius, as the Swedish superstar launched an astonishing overhead kick past Joe Hart from all of 30+ yards.

A special goal, from a special player.

Anderlecht vs PSG (2013)

A sensational one-man show from Ibrahimvoic helped Paris Saint-Germain to a thumping win at Anderlecht in 2013, with the forward scoring four times in a 5-0 win for the visitors.

In one of the most impressive Champions League hauls of all time, the forward opened the scoring with a close-range finish before backheeling home a brilliant second. The best, however, completed his hat-trick as Swede stunned the home crowd with a thunderous effort.

Cheikhou Kouyaté looked to have cleared the danger with a header clear, but it only dropped invitingly for Ibrahimovic who powered home an effort which rocketed into the top corner from distance.

It was a goal so good that it received rapturous applause from the Anderlecht support.

LA Galaxy vs LAFC (2018)

Zlatan took his talent to Major League Soccer after leaving Manchester United in 2018 and instantly made an impression with an unforgettable debut in the USA.

Ibrahimovic’s MLS bow was the first ever derby between LA Galaxy and Los Angeles rivals LAFC – and an El Trafico thriller took place. The marquee man scored twice after coming on as a substitute for the Galaxy, who came from three goals down to win 4-3.

The forward’s first was an outrageous effort from distance as Ibrahimovic pounced on a bouncing ball to launch an effort over Tyler Miller. He scored a second in stoppage time to complete the win and announce his arrival as the league’s new headline act.

Ibrahimovic scored 53 goals in just 58 appearances for LA Galaxy, as he turned MLS pitches into his own personal playground.

This wasn’t bad, either
