Moment of the Week

Tottenham and Liverpool was eagerly anticipated and it lived up to the billing during a pulsating Premier League clash in north London.

There was fine football, controversy, and a dramatic late finish as Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs side left it late to seal a winner. Liverpool had battled valiantly after being reduced to nine men following red cards for Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, with the match-winning moment a cruel one for the visitors.

Just when it appeared the Reds had earned a result, Pedro Porro’s low cross was turned into his own goal by Joel Matip to cue wild celebrations from the home side.

Player of the Week

Ollie Watkins could hardly have timed this performance better after starring in front of the watching Gareth Southgate during Aston Villa’s 6-1 thrashing of Brighton. A fixture billed as a clash between two teams with ambitions of upsetting the Premier League’s established order ended as a mismatch as Villa ran riot.

Watkins was the star of the show to score his second hat-trick of the campaign, bundling in an opener from Matty Cash’s centre before driving forward and finishing confidently for a second just seven minutes later.

The 27-year-old completed his hat-trick with a deflected effort in the second half and recorded an assist on a memorable afternoon, with Southgate sure to have taken note as he plans his squad for October’s international fixtures with Australia and Italy.

It’s been 18 months since Watkins last earned a cap for the Three Lions, but on current form he should be selected to provide competition and cover for Harry Kane. It’s now four goals and three assists in seven Premier League appearances this season.

Goal of the Week

If you’re going to score a winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford to earn your side a shock three points, this is probably the way to do it.

Crystal Palace’s Joachim Andersen could hardly have hit this sweeter after Eberechi’s Eze’s corner kick found its way all the way through to the Danish defender.

An honourable mention must go to Miguel Almiron for this stunning effort for Newcastle, as the Paraguayan picked out the top corner from range.

Stat of the Week

Rodri’s red card against Nottingham Forest has left a void in the Manchester City midfield, with back-to-back losses in the Spaniard’s absence.
