Erik ten Hag has criticised the performance from Manchester United after his side suffered a second consecutive Premier League defeat at Old Trafford.

Just days after a comfortable win over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, the Red Devils lost on home soil to the same opposition as Joachim Andersen earned the Eagles a 1-0 win.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone made a number of good saves for the visitors, as Roy Hodgson became just the second Premier League manager – after Pep Guardiola – to win three successive games at Old Trafford.

Defeat leaves United tenth in the Premier League table, having lost four of their opening seven games of the campaign.

Ten Hag criticised the ‘poor decisions’ his side made in the final third and admitted the quality of his team’s performance was ‘not good enough’.

“It’s quite simple. We conceded only three chances over the whole game – all three from set-plays. Then I think we got in good positions and then made poor decisions,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports.

“We got into good positions and we had free players. We didn’t have an impact. The quality was just not good enough in that part of the game. The final part of the game we didn’t play our best game.

“Of course it is frustrating. We were also many times close. You have to be sharp and clinical. It’s about decision making. We can’t change this result anymore. You always learn from the game and learn to do better from the final part of the game.”
